Lammas - Midpoint of the Summer

Good Morning! I hope you smell the sweet scent of the air. On today August 1st we have the opportunity to celebrate, again. This time the day is called Lammas and it is the true mid point of the summer season. It is nice to take a moment in the midst of new moons, blue moons, planets, and signs to just say thank you. And thank you in a way perhaps you hadn't said it before.

Often times we build up what our gratitude should look like rather than just simply having it. So today, when earth based religions will celebrate the harvests of the season thus far as well as the collaboration between the Earth and the Sun, stop and say thank you for that which you have manifested already this summer.

I also suggest we take a look at our lens of how we view what our abundance looks like. Many of us (myself included) will overlook or sometimes even ignore that which is a gift because it doesn't quite look like what we thought. Let's not make that mistake today.  See everything in our lives that give it meaning, purpose, challenge, form, and depth. Keep in mind all of these may not always seem like a walk in the park, but ultimately that give our lives dimension and uniqueness.  On today, our summer check in day, revisit what you may have wanted to work on this summer and evaluate.

To make this time more focused I propose we select a focus for today; Manifestation and Abundance.  Both really simple concepts right? Well, as always, the most basic things are really quite layered when we really dig deeper.  Listed below are questions I am venturing to ask myself today and I am committed to giving myself honest answers back, not what I think should be the answer, but what really IS the answer. Feel free to ask yourself these as well or make up your own questions surrounding manifesting, mid point, or abundance.

Manifestation and Abundance Questions:

1. What have I manifested thus far in the summer season?
2. Am I truly aware of the abundance that surrounds me?
3. What are things I still want to focus on for the remainder of the summer?
4. In all that I do is there an aspect of gratitude that I keep at my core?
5. What are the ways I show my gratitude?
6. How do I share my abundance and gratitude with others?

A final good bye
As we enter the home stretch of this cycle, the waning phase, I want to put us all on notice that we are not just entering the waning phase, but we are entering the final waning phase of this lunar year. That's right, we have almost come to the end of these thirteen moons and soon (like next week) we will enter another lunar year. So, there's no time like the present to do some serious and necessary weeding in our lives and in our spirits.

Recipe for release
While researching the phase it occurred to me that even before we make any changes we have to 1) pull up what truly needs to be discarded, 2) destroy whatever comes up, 3) extract it totally, and 4) plant what we would like in it's place. If this sounds familiar that's because this is essentially what farmers do and some of their tasks will begin soon as well.  Be intentional about weeding and planting yourself during this ending phase.  Although the work we do at this time may not seem to yield results, please know that all magic at this time is potent and will be amplified by the fact that this is the last waning phase in this lunar year. Go head, plant your future now.

Truly see
My waning phase is about seeing what has already been released. There are times when I will not recognize the process because the steps are not overt or obtuse, well this waning phase is about discarding that kind of thinking. My energy has to be about noticing, especially the miniscule.  Good-bye to my non-believer.

Charging your charge for the Bull

BLAM! POW! KABOOM! These verbs reminiscent of the shows of the 60's are just the kind of energy we can expect from dear, dear Taurus this Lunar Cycle. That's right, all of us who were trying so hard to make it through that Aries cycle, well now we have another chance. This time we will all be blessed with an overflow of many things, thanks to Taurus and the ruling planet of Venus.

Being someone born with bull like energy from Chinese Astrology, I am always so excited about this time of year when folks graduate, we celebrate mothers and it's just generally a good time to be outside. Don't take these gifts from Venus, by way of Taurus without knowing that to those whom much is given, much will be required. Taurus is a time for abundance (in all forms) and love work. Stay open to be anointed with an influx of creativity, realization of highest dreams, and the awesome power we have to attract.

For me I am charging myself with making rituals, large and small a part of the many moments that will exist in this cycle. I get up, ritualize it, I am unsure, ritualize it too. Basically I am putting my proverbial money where my mouth is. This cycle it's about hardcore work to access and flourish in the abundance and prosperity that is and always will be available to me.

This beautiful spring morning has been gifted to me as I sit mere meters from the lake that drenched and cleansed the city of New Orleans. Even now as I type I have tears in my eyes, mainly because I can feel the fullness of the moon and the blessings she has in store for me. The work is well worth it. It is all I can say, in brief form. This full moon is full of Love (which may explain the welling tears that almost just fell), since Libra (the sign of this full moon) is vivaciously ruled by Venus the Queen of Love, Beauty and Pleasure. So take this time to be open to all things that bring you pleasure. Venus is such a portal for us to re-connect with that wonderfully beautiful portion of our soul that is always there, no matter how much she may be shaded by our day to day existences.

Personally, I am looking to expand my capacity for abundance and the prosperity that follows it. I do possess the medicine to accept abundance, but when things begin to look bleak, I flinch, I will admit it. So now, I challenge myself to be steadfast, rooted, and an internal holder of the abundance that the universe has for me. I know I have the means to achieve this, I must put it out there and watch success unfold.
