Mercury Retrogrades 2025 - Make a Strategy

Forewarned is Forearmed The planet mercury will go into a retrograde period March 15th and will stay that way until April 7th, 2025. These dates are just an approximation and some of us have begun to feel the effects as early as March 8th. So to help us all be a bit more proactive this post includes retrograde dates for all of 2025 as well.

Slowing it down A retrograde is when the planet is supposed to move in a certain direction and how we see it moving is a different direction.  When this happens to the planet Mercury, all forms of communication are off kilter.  So that means snail mail, email, cell phone, land lines, speaking to others, and speaking to yourself are just off. And don't even think of signing a contract or wonder why negotiations are not going well...Not to mention travel as well, so don’t be surprised about delays. If things seem to be going oh so wrong, sit back, relax and let things ride out over the next few weeks. Don't take things or people personally (especially yourself).  Most importantly, remain open to the communication you do have which is with yourself.  This relationship (the self one) has the potential to grow at leaps and bounds during the retrograde.

• July 18–August 11: Mercury will be in retrograde in Leo 

• November 9–29: Mercury will be in retrograde in Sagittarius and Scorpio

The planet mercury will go into a retrograde period December 19th and stay with us until January 8, 2017.  These dates are just an approximation and some of us have begun to feel the effects as early as December 12th. So to help us all be a bit more proactive this post includes retrograde dates for 2017 as well.

Some guidance
The retrogrades in the coming year are three times the opportunity to show ourselves, ya know what, we can do this.  Even as that God of Communication does his usual trickery, we can move forward, albeit at a totally different speed.  Remember retrogrades can be felt up to seven days before its onset and sometimes seven days after it goes direct.

Four times the charm
Today, already the planet Mercury is not flexing that retrograde muscle. Posted here are the dates for this first and the remaining three periods this year. Yup, I did say three more times.   Take in mind although the dates are posted on this page can fluctuate one day back or forward, think an extra week on each side just to be safe.  Forewarned is forearmed, although in a retrograde ducking and taking cover might not be a bad idea.

For me, a person who's ruling planet is Mercury, I hope to connect to this parent planet by solidifying my link with myself and others that are already around me.  I make note of these dates and await the gifts that Mercury bring.  Oh, and if you want get that yellow candle to burn for the planet Mercury. For me, a person who's ruling planet is Mercury, I can only hope that my connection to the planet links me in ways that allow me to embrace it's energy, albeit contrary sometimes.  I will mark these dates and heed it's presence.  This last retrograde of the year sits right up on the edge of the Fall season, meaning all of our harvesting and transitions could have the potential to go a bit helter skelter. My hope is that by knowing ahead of time it may glean some positively beautiful experiences.

The posted sign to the left is how most of us feel during Mercurial Retrogrades right?  Well, with the coming year of 2013, here are the Mercury Retrograde periods for the calendar year.  My wish is that understanding when these periods onset will hopefully empower all of us to utilize the blessings that this often times tricky planet can bring us.

Just when you thought you were homefree...

 It's spun around again
A retrograding planet Mercury has appeared, for the last time this calendar year.  When Mercury retrogrades, all forms of communication are off kilter, to say the least. Snail mail, email, cell fone, home fone, speaking to others, speaking to yourself, and don't even think of signing a contract or wonder why negotiations are not going well. We can not put life off during the retrogrades, but forewarning will help ya navigate through it.

GPS for Mercury in Retrograde, maybe
Here with us since November 6th (or up to a week before) and expected to stay til after Thanksgiving holiday here is some food for thought and a possible strategy to get the most out of this cosmically induced situation comedy in our lives.  So, this strategy, is it full proof--uhh no.  Will there be a trial and error period where you may want to bring all things to a halt, of course.  But will this strategy at least be a jumping off point for you to understand how energy is being warped and how to anticipate and almost plan for the unexpected, hopefully YES!

Part One: Self Completion
Often we place other things and people before all of our self related matters.  So if you are a parent, a caregiver, a teacher or a caring spouse, during this retrograde, devote time to you and only you.  A hard task, but since everyone else may misread your intentions and communications why not.  Complete that draft of a book, take yourself out to dinner or the movies, or hey, even start that scarp-book project on your college days you have been putting off.  Basically, work on anything that will help complete something that is only focused on you.

Part Two: Build Stronger Existing Bonds
Now, I am sure we all have said if we just had more hours in the day we would take some time out to spend with one of our siblings, or an elder family member, or a friend we haven't seen in upteen years.  Well when Mercury retrogrades, we all can benefit by spending time strengthening those relationships that need repair, need tending, need mending, or just plain ole attention.  Don't get so caught up in the how, identify those folks first and just simply ask for the right way to make those bonds that are meaningful in our lives even stronger.

Part Three:  Harvest Gratitude
This is one of my favorite techniques when dealing with Mercury when it retrogrades.  So since there are all kinds of things that can and will go awry, I sometimes sit in the mist of all the mayhem and say thank you.  Thank you for the sun, the moon, the stars, loved ones, breath, and life.  Somehow my gratitude injects some clemency from Mercury or some other place and my focus leaves what has messed up and begins to shift to all the blessings and gifts I have and will receive.  It's really all about perception and where we lay our energy. So as harvest dawns, say THANK YOU no matter what.

Part, Whole or Activation
Now I don't think that these three things will solve all of our Mercury related troubles, but I do hope one of them or even a mere part of one will trigger within all of us the overcoming power we humans definitely possess with every cell we have, it's just about the activation phase.  Hopefully this post will help us make great things happen.

Making nice with a Retrograde

 Welcome Dear Mercury

Yes, we have entered into another round of the planet Mercury going retrograde, it's official. And no doubt you may have already felt its affects.  The dates this time are March 12 through approximately April 4, however let's be proactive and give our selves a week on each side of that.  So, for those of you just coming to this point, when Mercury retrogrades it gives off the impression of moving backwards, so things controlled by Mercury will be askew, to say the least.

So, this is how it's gonna be

Mercury, the planet often mentioned third when speaking astrologically, after the Sun and the Moon, rules communication.  That's communication of all kind whether that's face to face, via email, via snail mail, Goddess bless you if you have a video conference or presentation during this time. Basically, anytime you may need to give information to another being or even yourself, communication can break down.  Oh, don't sign anything if you can avoid it, guaranteed misunderstandings for sure, put it off if you can until after the retrograde.  If not then dot "I's" and cross "T's" like there is no tomorrow.  Having said that, this is not a charge for all of us to run and hide, but rather to walk with awareness and just give information extra time to be passed along.  It's better than getting worked into a frenzy with out any results, right?

Discard that which is unwanted

This retrograde does happen to fall as the moon is waning, which means we have left the Full Moon, midpoint time and we are on the downside of this lunar cycle and now is the time to rid ourselves of unwanted energy, thoughts, things, and possibly people.  We are each preparing our personal gardens for growth and it's just time to pull some weeds.  Is this not a better time?  As we adhere to the whims of Mercury it is a perfect opportunity to focus more on ourselves, our goals, our dreams, our challenges and the like.   So, just do it, no need to stall.  It's almost as if one of the best gifts Mercury bestows upon us is that we are given time to really see ourselves, in all of our beautiful messes, LOL!!!

So, here's what you could do

Now, do I even zen or meditate my way through all of Mercury's madness? Uhhh....NO! So, I thought I  would give some quick and physical ways to try to reset when the madness is just too much during a retrograde.  Please try these, and even comment below and let us all know what works for you.   If you have something new share, I would love more tips on handling the retrograde myself!

Mercury Herbs

Anise, Clary Sage, Lavender, Lemongrass, Peppermint 

These are a few scents that are associated with Mercury and can be selected for the tools below.

Burn Incense

Although this seems small, incense permeates the air and can quickly and easily affect and effectively change where we are at any moment.  I have been known to walk around with a stick or two when necessary.

Make Mist Sprays

Water heals all, we know this and carrying that healing tool with you in a small spritz bottle, can give you just the necessary dose of reality, sanity, and energy.  Nothing is wrong with a little spray here and there, even others might need it.

Carry Aromatherapy Oils

Anyone who knows me knows I basically walk around with several bottles on me and it's because I never know when I am going to just need a dab here or there.  There are many companies and types, do the research find out which ones are right for you.  I know these scents have saved my life on more than one occasion.

Just Laugh it Off

Can't tell you how many times I have realized about two seconds into something, Oh, it's Mercury.  Gave me much more flexibility and less stress.  Sometimes it's not you or them, it's just Mercury!

Thankful for this Harvest Retrograde

Feeling like emails are slow? Has your cell fone been acting a straight FOOL? Not to mention, have you been having a conversation and realized none of what you want is really coming out? 2) Take more time to work internally on yourself rather than pour out your energy on external things

3) Revisit some old relationships or folks from your past that you know truly have your interest at heart.

Basically focus on things that will not waver if the communication lines get muddled.

The Lion, the way, and the retrograde

Well the beginning has begun again. How wonderful and fortunate are we! This time the lunar cycle will move into Leo a fabulous and favorable sign, ruled by none other than the Sun. And might I say the Sun is shining a bit bright, at least on the eastern coast of the U.S. And just to keep us on our toes, at the genesis of this Leo lunar cycle is the magical mayhem of Mercury, IN RETROGRADE. So let's take a look at these things one at a time.

Leo and the Sun

The Sun, the ruler of Leo is the power of the light, that's right, exposure. Exposure can carry many meanings but for all of us this lunar cycle why don't we think of it as paparazzi, the ever encroaching flash of lights that exist to bring forth to us and the world who we are, not just who we are in our heads. Use this revealing and illuminative time to extract any negativity, self doubt or self degradation, for all of us have some of it somewhere, tucked away. Sun time should be beautiful and a complete PR spin, but before we go there, we must know exactly who we are and what about ourselves we want to evolve, that's right its all about our journey in this lifetime.

Mercury in Retrograde

Now doing all of this is good and grand and dandy but in a mercurial retrograde, it can be tricky. Let's get some clarity on that. Mercury in retrograde is when Mercury, the ruler of communication, shifts all forms of communication as we know it. So, snail mail, email, cell phones, home phones, contracts, speaking with family and friends, speaking with strangers, and even speaking with yourself all are going to be askew from Aug. 2nd until Aug. 26th. Don't give up or feel frustrated take the opportunities to embrace silence, see nature or just chill. It's gonna happen whether we are ready or not, so ya might as well get ready.

My Work this Cycle

My personal journey this Leo lunar cycle is to find any blockages (whatever they may be), own them, do whatever work that needs to be done around them, then keep it moving. Wanna know why? Cause I got lots of love, success, and evolution to be about. My time away from home has once again reminded me, WOW, I have seen and done some things. So no false modesty, no comparison to others, its about to be straight knowledge of self (the Whole self).

Well time does fly, when we are fully engaged and over the past ten weeks Engaged has been my middle name. I have to say it is mid point, I do believe, in this the Lunar year of the Bull. How does it feel? What goals have been met? What goals have been scraped? And yes, what other goals have come up? This checking in point should be one of reflection, appreciation and joy. We are farther along than we were when we started.

I hope this summertime sunshine has been good to us all. I bring news of a new lunar cycle, Virgo. A bolstering full moon, in Pisces. And, a planetary retrograde, dear old Mercury. Let's see if I can spell out some of this in a way we all can use. I say hello, finally, to the vivaciously vibrant Virgo Lunar Cycle. Ruled by Mercury, this cycle has been and will be about friendships, putting things in order, and quite frankly, invoking that teenager like energy that just gets stuff done. Now remember, this energy is all relative, so no going overboard, but remind yourself you can do anything, like stay up all night and then go to class in the morning. LOL...Use the young, take no prisoner vibrations that we all can pull on to make the impossible possible.

Being a Mercurial daughter let me spell out what I know the retrograde to mean. Well all forms of communication (what Mercury rules) are going to be off kilter. To say the least! Snail mail, email, cell fone, home fone, speaking to others, speaking to yourself, and don't even think of signing a contract or wonder why negotiations are not going well. We can not put life off during the retrogrades, but forewarning will help us navigate through it. My wish for us all is that we are aware of the retrograde and slide through it like we are successfully playing the retro video game TRON.

During full moon time we find ourselves also at a turning point, but only in this cycle. And this full moon will mean some deep seated thoughts and deeds for us because Pisces is ruled by the deep diving Neptune. Yes, not the fuzzy, lovely kind of energy, but energy that will definitely make us sit up and take notice as well as make sure the lessons we will learn during this time will be the last time we learn those lessons. We have made it full circle, back to the beginning of a new lunar cycle. This New Moon is pregnant with possibility. New Moon time is ripe for setting things into motion. Gather your thoughts and give them to the universe, but be sure to let go and experience, it ALL. This lunar cycle finds us in the dichotomously divine Gemini. Now, while a many frown upon the thought of two personalities, sharing the same energy, I say to all of us, let us have gratitude for energy such as Gemini. Without it we would not have that talkative, witty, social portion of ourselves that the public loves. Gemini is a good time to invoke new employment as well as new endeavors. Ruled by the always surprising Mercury, Gemini is definitely a time for expecting the unexpected.

So...set your intentions. Do the work that needs to be done, but then allow Gemini to work its magic of, BAM, here is what you have been waiting for all your life. It really is just that easy.

My walk over the next cycle will be around the concept equanimity as it pertains to detachment. Can I truly appreciate all that is yin and yang, positive and negative, masculine and feminine and detach? I charge myself to experience life, see it in vibrantly bright colors and not be swayed one way or another, but rather digest the lessons and move forward. Sounds like a piece of cake right? I will be checking in. Luckily, Mercury is due to go direct next weekend, so my self communication should be up and running at its optimum real soon.

As we pass on to another point in this ever gifting Taurus Lunar journey, we make a stop at a Full Moon. A Full Moon is a peak time to work power, and not power in an external sense, but power internally, a place we shy away from for various reasons. Full Moons can be seen as Ripeness. During Full Moons there is increase in all sorts of energies and things occurring. We have often heard folklore tell of the “wildness” of Full Moons, well I propose it is the climaxing of the cycle, so get ready....

This Full Moon is ruled by Scorpio, a sign that can present itself in very diverse ways. There may be an urge to go to a place of passion, whether that be anger, love, lust or confusion. Another urge could be subtlety, maybe we need to be more sedate and behind the scenes. Or even still, we may want to really consider severance work. Who or what is in our life that we need a clean break from, hell, it might be a part of yourself you have no more need for. Pluto, Scorpio’s ruling planet, is one of Transmutation, Transformation and Reconstruction. So get ready for energy to move you in one direction or another. And please, do not think you can sit this one out. If you do not actively move in a direction you choose, believe me, you will be moved and maybe to a place you weren’t quite ready to visit.

once i realized it was coming back again, i was like DAMNNNN!!!! gotta give this info out, cause i know i want to be ahead of the curve. forewarned is forearmed.

and to make it more interesting the first retrograde falls as the one lunar year ends and another begins. oh joy! i have learned to get these times by understanding what it means and not becoming frustrated or irate when communication of any kind is, well, just plain WRONG!!!

Making Magic out of Mist...

We are in this the waning of the moon. Do you feel it? I hope you do. The power of the waning moon rests in its ability to remove things from our lives we are willing to let go. I know, I have said this before, but I am here to tell you, I must constantly reiterate these things to myself. And while we are letting go of things we don't want, we're making room for things we do want.

Our waning phase this time is in Virgo, which is ruled by that ever playful, ever talking, ever bringing the balance: Mercury. While Virgo gifts us with organization, purpose and friendship, Mercury sprinkles onto our paths things like self knowledge in the trickiest of ways, an increase in our mental acuity, and a heightened Solar Plexus (our intuition). So know that tasks are coming our way, but be alert it will come in the funniest of ways. Just go with the flow and join in the laughter, its okay because at the end of it all there is evolution.

My own journeying this waning cycle is pyschic protection and not a paranoid, "they puttin' roots on me" kind of protection. But rather, really preparing myself to experience life with others without absorbing their energy, their path, their tasks. And ultimately develop more completely my safe inner space.
