Surf's Up!

credit: thecosmicpath.com
At a beginning
This morning marks the middle of the dawning of a new lunar cycle. In essence, we are reaching the zenith of new moon time. This time of each lunar cycle is precious in that is affords us the opportunity to regroup, reset, and redirect what we want from this particular lunar cycle. Basically every 28.5 days we get a do over, if you will.

Not to crabby
This lunar cycle is in the sign Cancer, often represented by the the crab. What is most interesting is that this symbol (crab) is just the tip of the iceberg of what comes from that sea. You see the sign Cancer is ruled by the Moon, a celestial body with many gifts, hidden and unhidden.

A Mother's love
The Moon is the cosmic mother that provides much nurturing, much love, and many lessons. I'd like us all to reflect on our own mothers or mother figures and remember when we felt the most loved by her. Now transport ourselves to that time and see if we can identify the emotion that goes along with that. A task for some of us, but surely there is either joy, fear, pride, resolve, or even indifference, all emotional responses. The power of the Moon is that is propels us into emotional spaces that allow for growth, revelation, and breakthroughs. Boldly walk into this tidal wave of emotions and know we will surf through it to the top of all the peaks.

The value of Nothing
My path this moon cycle is about laying low, remaining quiet, and allowing what is for me to be revealed. Sounds a little mystical, it is...and it isn't. I, just like all of us, work daily to be the best me I can be and my biggest growth comes from when I am still, I am listening, and I am introverted. I welcome this emotional deluge and I honor all that I come to understand. In fact my word for this cycle will be equanimity (no good nor bad just know that all IS).

Tell your Story
This cycle I offer the tools below to assist us as we navigate the highs and lows. Other tools that can also assist are altars, deities that can guide you, and pictures of people or places that generate power for you. If you do only one thing this cycle, be sure to write, write, and then write some more. We are the greatest storyteller of our lives and the only way we will remember it is if it's written down. Be it journal, post it notes, or recording into a device. Commit in a consistent way to track your story this lunar cycle.

Feeling fuller than Ever

Fuller than full
At approximately 7:32pm EST this evening we are steeped in the first full moon of this lunar new year.  This point is truly a line of demarcation for our lunar cycle. So make note and be willing to go the extra distance if you plan to do ceremony or ritual during this period. Full moon energy is a powerful time.  And just to make our lives more interesting a Lunar Eclipse takes place at 7:43pm EST right after the full moon enters Leo.  As a note, a Lunar Eclipse is when the Earth moves between the Sun and the Moon, quite an alignment of forces. This gateway, if you will, allows for great change in our lives and the lives of all of those around us. Know this and act accordingly. We must activate with these gifts, especially in times like these.

Name that full
As you can see in the image above each full moon has a name and an animal that can be associated with it for guidance and perspective. This particular full moon is called the Snow Moon, which given the weather on the Eastern US right now, Snow Moon is an appropriate moniker. We will come back to this point in a moment.

Claim that full
Now, after naming the moon it is also useful to know the celestial make up of the full moon. This coming full moon is in Leo and the planetary ruler of Leo is the Sun. Not a planet, true but definitely an entity in the sky that impacts our daily lives.  This Leo full moon let's break our self imposed stereotypes and go for pleasure, go for recognition, go for illumination in sectors of our lives that have been virtually dormant. We all need to dig within (whether it be just under the surface or to the depths of our souls) capture our inner Leader Extraordinaire and relish in that person as we walk, talk, breathe, think and exist this Snow Moon.

Telling my full
For me this is direct call to action to get up off my tail and move into the next phase that I must say will be a lot more public. Although I have no fear of speaking in front of crowds or performing before an audience, I must honestly say the thought of taking my messaging and knowledge to a larger platform has been cause for much apprehension. But, I, just like you, know that I can not continue forward if I am not obedient to the process. So, here I state, for all to hold me accountable, that you will be seeing me in a different way this lunar year. Here's to my success!!!!

Making your full
Take time to think about and strategize about your focus. Full moon energy is strong, expansive, and bewitching, but it is not here for very long. We have tonight, all of tomorrow and tomorrow night, then the power of this full moon will begin to wane.  See you all on the other side of our greatness. Below is more information on the Snow Moon and a few tools for harvesting this power.

Set your Lunar Year

credit: MTA
The 13 moons
Preparing for a new lunar year can be daunting or tiring, but having a self made guide book for yourself will allow you to navigate the coming Lunar Year in unparalleled fashion. The significance of the Lunar New Year is that there will be 13 new moon cycles with which to dream, learn, give, receive, and hope all over again.

Give it time
One of the most potent steps I have taken in the last decade or so is to really give time, spirit, and space to what I want to manifest. There are roughly four days remaining where we get the opportunity to ask questions, hear answers, listen for indicators, and conjure up the future that is upon us. Please do not take lightly that we are the masters of our destinies, we are just that. And the other very practical note is that if we don't have a clear plan of where we'd like to go, how do we know when we have reached.

Inch by inch
Set time aside today or even each day (same or different times isn't relevant) and make sure you are making note of what issues, ideas, concepts. or hardships come up.  Often times people want to make large proclamations and stands on what their year will be about and yes that is one way to set your Lunar Year off, but I have more recently subscribed to the notion that my guides will give me a skeletal idea of the year and then it's up to me to see the specifics as they come. It is a bit more risky, but I find that I am able to harness and utilize my spiritual connection/powers better that way.

You make the call
I want each of you to decide how best to set out the year for yourself. Ritual and ceremony only heightens our link to the spirit realm so whether with ourselves or with others we must bring in this Lunar New Year in a way that makes us comfortable (food, music, gathering, elemental objects, etc). The power lies not in what we have around us, but rather the energy we activate.

Decisions, decisions
Below are general areas that often help as a spring board for portions of our life that we want to emphasize in a given Lunar Year.  Figure out the who, what, when, why, and how and have it ready with you when you begin doing work for the Lunar New Year. Also intuit and mantra for the year, either from a guidance card pull or an overarching theme for your path this Lunar Year.  I have found that manifestation springs forth from the ability to conceive it, write it, speak it, and share it.  All of this together makes up for some powerful mojo that will help us navigate through the next 13 moons and beyond. Please check back midweek when the blog for the Lunar New Year will be posted. I look forward to hearing what this has sparked. Remember caring is sharing!
